Training Command – Military Academy

From 11 to 12 June 2010 the Children`s Survival called Doupov`s Greenhorn took place in the surrounding of Hradiště Military Training Area. The event was organized for 8-17-year-old children coming from children`s homes and sponsor`s organizations. Every year it is organized by Hradiště Training Facilities Servicing Centre (TFSC) and the Club of the Friends of Kadaň Town and is held within the framework of the cooperation with the public, free-time activities centres and elimination of the socially unacceptable phenomena.

Stanislav Stebila, Hradiště TFSC PR says: “The event took place at Sedlec Water Reservoir bordering with Hradiště Military Training Area which is known among the locals and older soldiers as Doupov. On Friday, day of the opening, children participated in pitching the military tents as well as preparing the camp and were divided into teams under the guidance of the experienced team leaders from the 4th Žatec Rapid Deployment Brigade. Children passed water sports training, played different games and didn`t miss out a night patrol. The adrenaline military training competition Doupov`s Greenhorn, aimed at a movement in nature and completion of the tasks, was held on Saturday. Children had to deal with a map reading, orientation in terrain, wading, health training, target granade throwing, air gun shooting, water sports training, fire-fighting and also bivouacing which is necessary for outdoor camping. Afterwards Žatec rescue workers demonstrated a rescue action and treatment of the seriously injured people. Within an anti-drug awareness programme the Kadaň Municipal Police presented some interesting ways of the police dogs` training. The final day was dedicated to water sports followed by closing down the temporary camp, cleaning up the campsite followed by the evaluation of the event and handing over the certificates.”

The meaning of the whole project was to make both children and adults use their spare time effectively and teach young people to have a positive attitude towards nature. According to Mr Stebila many young people expressed their interest in serving in the Armed Forces and many soldiers of the 4th Brigade came to the Army from the organizations holding Doupov`s Greenhorn.

During a hand-over of the certificates the last round of applause of almost 50 children and their parents went to all those who have dedicated their spare time to work with the young people for many years. According to Mr Stebila the Hradiště TFSC Command appreciate their cooperation with Cyril Hauptmann from the Club of the Friends of Kadaň, Josef Slunéčko, from Mašťov Council, Jan Apolen from Kadaň Young Firefighters Organization, Vítězslav Kýna from Kadaň Fire Brigade, Vladimír Iršler from Kadaň Water Sports, Radek Wožniak, Stanislav Kobza and Radek Vyhnálek, the policemen from the Kadaň Municipal Police, Kateřina Krupičková from the Red Cross, Josef Roub from the Radonice Flight School, Tomáš Žák from the “Doupov`s Wolfs” (sports organization), Slavomil Jurnečka, the Veselý couple, Žatec rescue workers and many others.
