75 Years of the Departmental Personnel Training in Vyškov Garrison
The 75th Anniversary of the Personnel Training of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic (MoD CR) was celebrated in Vyškov Garrison on 29 March 2010. The event was organized and hosted by Training Command – Military Academy (TC – MA).
“When dispossession of estates occurred in April 1935 in order to build up training facilities and when on 1st November 1935 the Training Camp Command in Dědice near Vyškov was established, its first Commander Lt-Col Alexandr Fusek could not have guessed that he was founding one of the long-lasting military traditions of our Armed Forces, tradition of military education in Vyškov Garrison“. This is a part of the speech of the current TC – MA Commander, Colonel GS Jaromír Zůna, which was held in the introduction of the TC – MA personnel gathering and was attended by the representatives of the Garrison as well as by the important guests from the AF CR, state administration, local government and military and non-military organisations. Milan Gol, Director of Personnel Department and GM Čestmír Tesařík, Deputy Chief of GS.
Colonel Zůna also emphasized significance of this anniversary not only from the military personnel point of view, but also from perspective of Vyškov inhabitants. He said: “Military traditions have become an indivisible part of historical traditions of Vyškov“. During this event Senior Lecturer František Hanzlík, well-known historian at University of Defence in Brno, held a speech on the history of the Garrison. Tomáš Sedláček, Retired General of the Army and Honored Chairman of the Czechoslovak Legionary Association made also a contribution. He is a graduate from Hranice Military Academy whose traditions have been followed by TC – MA Vyškov for several years. During this event he also talked to the students of the Officer Course and paid tribute to “Hranice Academicians” who passed away years ago.
On the occasion of this significant anniversary those who contributed significantly to the conception of the personnel training and the foundation of the educational facilities were awarded Laudi Memorabilis by General of the Army Vlastimil Picek, Chief of GS. He awarded Petr Hájek, Mayor of Vyškov, for his merit of the Grade III, namely for his significant contribution to forming of military education in Vyškov. At the end of the gathering the Combat Battalion of TC – MA was decorated by Commissioner of Sothern Moravian Region with a ribbon.
The part of the celebration also included an excursion to the training facilities and a demonstration of the Garrison personnel`s training. The event was followed by the conference on Twenty Years of Transformation of Military Education – Personnel Training for the AF CR Needs which was held from 30th-31st March 2010.
