Education of NATO Reserve Officers in Vyškov

A workshop for CIOR young reserve officers was held from 7th to 10th April 2010 at Training Command – Military Academy (TC – MA) in Vyškov (CIOR stands for Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers). It was organized in cooperation with a CIOR national representative MAJ Arnošt Líbezný, President of the Czech Republic Association of Reserve Brigades, and TC – MA Vyškov. The purpose of the workshop was a discussion of national approaches of formation, training, education and deployment of reserve units within national and multinational operations.

This workshop was attended by reserve officers from Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the USA and the Czech Republic. It was held under the patronage of Martin Barták, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, and Michal Hašek, Governor of the South Moravian Region. Moreover, a significance of the workshop was enhanced by the presence and active participation of Michael Hrbata, MP of the Chamber of Deputies of the CR Parliament and Vice-Chairman of the Committee for Defence, and MG James B. Mallory, US Army Reserve Training Commander.

After the introduction and presentations all the participants in the workshop were divided into teams and discussed solutions to the issues regarding procedures of training, preparation, education and possible deployment of the reserve units in national and multinational operations. The output document of the workshop included proposals of the single procedures, solutions of the effective formation and possible deployment of the NATO member states` reserve corps.

In June 2010 a fortnight CIOR Language Academy – another event concerning education of the NATO reserve officers – will be held at TC – MA.
