Military Academy Museum Has a New DisplayMilitary Academy Museum Has a New Display

On 12th February BG Radoslav Rotrekl, Deputy Commander of the Support Forces, and Colonel GS Jaromír Zůna, TC – MA Commander, cut the tape symbolizing an opening of a new display of Military Academy Museum of the “Hranice Academicians” in Vyškov. The ceremony was attended by guests and those who participated in an implementation of this project.

An opening of the display regarding Military Training and Exercise Area (MTEA) Březina and single troops which were dislocated and did their duties there is not without a purpose. It is connected with a significant 75th anniversary of the Defence Department personnel training in Vyškov Garrison.

Libor Pliešovský, Chief Warrant Officer of TC – MA, as a main organizer and coordinator of this demanding project said in his speach:

“Dear General, Colonel, guests, ladies and gentlemen,
I am very pleased that we can expand our display at “Hranice Academicians` Museum”. Let me introduce the team who assisted me and explain our reasons that led us to the opening. The first and crucial moment for me was my first acquaintance with the Víťězná Civic Society. These remarkable people treated very seriously a history of the MTEA, a period of its foundation and war events which took place there. The second impulse was my paying visit to the veterans who served there, built a new army and provided conditions required for education. I felt like owning them something and found it useful to remember their work. As you know, many things have already happened here in one form or the other and it would be wise to learn from them. It never was easy.
Another impulse came from Mr Milan Šťastný and Mr Jan Stryk who preserved a previous Hall of Traditions from the MTEA Command which was a basis for a current display. I was amazed by a number of people interested in Military History in Vyškov Garrison. I call them the “Enthusiasts”. They know that this job and service cannot be done only for the money, but that something else is required too. And the last reason for the opening was the 75th anniversary of military education in Vyškov Garrison.
I would like to thank all the participants for their co-operation. Special thanks to Ms Martina Musilová and a modeller class from the School Battalion. Another thank you is for Ms Hana Trávníčková who made a contribution with a display concerning the nature in the MTEA.
In conclusion I would like to reflect a little bit. Many of us, me included, belong to a generation who will “say goodbye” to some veterans such as a Praga V3S, Tatra 138 or OT-64. It might be worth preserving and displaying some of them in Vyškov for our descendants so that they can see what vehicles we used here.”
