The ceremony took place in the Spanish Hall in the Prague Castle.

The aim of this year`s competition as well as the aim of the previous ones, was to choose, promote and award publicly the best companies in the enlisted branches of business such as education, culture, science and technology which have a crucial role not only in the Czech economics, but also in our whole society. The nonprofit organization COMENIUS sets as its goal to support and promote international contacts and cooperation in all mentioned branches.

Among the best organizations in the category called “Health – Education – Humanity” was also Training Command – Military Academy Vyškov. The award was handed over to Colonel GS Jaromír Zůna, TC – MA Commander, by Dana Jurásková, Ministress of Health, on the stage of the Spanish Hall. Among others awarded in the same category of this prestigious competition were for instance Charles University in Prague and Motol Teaching Hospital.

During 14 years of the history of the competition the award was given to a representative of the Army for the second time. Central Military Hospital Prague was awarded the same award in the past.

“It is a significant award which is for us an indication that our work is heading for the right direction and that we have estimated correctly where the needs of the Army as well as those involved in wider defence security context are directed. It is also motivation for further amelioration of our work.”

Colonel Zůna when being asked why Military Academy Vyškov was given this award replied: “Military Academy is an accredited institution for training of the NATO employees within Coalition. We prepare personnel for work in depressed areas and provide employees of humanitarian aid organizations and NGOs with professional training. Also a part of the curriculum of Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Defence is studied in Vyškov. We have broad field of activity and this year we also opened for the European Union a Pilot Junior Diplomatic Training Course which prepares students for work in depressed areas. In the future we have potential to do this training also on the wider scale especially after the signing of the Treaty of Lisbon. It is a result of the fact that our academy outreached the framework of the Department of Defence and becomes well-known not only among the public and defence security community at home, but also on the international scale.”

As the top three companies in the main category were awarded ČEZ, a. s., Škoda Auto, Inc. and Škoda Holding, Inc. Prominent representatives of the government and other guests of honour took part in the ceremony in the Prague Castle.
