The 91st Anniversary of Independent Czechoslovak State Day
On the occasion of the Independent Czechoslovak State Day a parade ceremony took place in Vyškov Garrison on Tuesday 27th October 2009. Among participants were representatives of local government, military formations and units of Vyškov garrison and social organizations.
Among those who assisted in the ceremony was Ivo Bárek, senator of the Parliament of the Czech Republic (PCR), Petr Hájek, MP and Mayor of Vyškov, Michael Hrbata, MP as well as other guests. In his speech Colonel GS Jaromír Zůna, TC – MA Commander, recalled not only this milestone in the history of the Czech nation and Czech statehood, but also forming and building-up new Czechoslovak Armed Forces. As a Commander of the departmental training establishment he mentioned on this occasion an importance of the formation of Czechoslovak Military Academy in Hranice whose message and system of the Armed Forces Personnel training is followed by Military Academy in Vyškov, which bears the title “Hranice Academicians”. Afterwards Reservist Lt-Col Miroslav Zeman, Chairman of the Czechoslovak Legionary Association in Vyškov, mentioned briefly a formation of the independent Czechoslovakia in connection with Czechoslovak Legions. He emphasized that “thanks to the legions Czechoslovakia was considered one of the winning powers after the end of the war. It is very gratifying that a Czechoslovak legions` tradition is not forgotten and is spread far beyond borders of the Czech Republic”. His final legionary greeting “Loyalty for loyalty” was followed by awarding of the Czech Armed Forces` medals, acknowledgements and commendations of the Chief of General Staff of the Czech Republic to Libavá Centre of Training Facilities Servicing for assisting Czech citizens during the floods this year. TC – MA Commander`s awards and commendations were also assigned.
