The Doctrine Institute is a component of the General Staff of the ACR for creation of military regulations, service training materials and military publications. It is a part of the Training Command – Military Academy organizational structure and is subordinate to the Commander, Training Command – Military Academy.
- It provides for a development of the doctrine system, military regulations, service training materials and military publications within the ACR in the area of training and operation assignment of units and headquarters (staffs);
- It is a co-coordinator of the development of military theory at the operational art and tactical level. On the grounds of real (combat) operations of units (exercises), the Institute develops its analysis and in co-ordination with the CR MoD elements, the Brno Defense University and with other departmental research installations and the TC-MA institutes, it elaborates a theory of preparation and conduct of operations.
- It takes part in the creation of developmental, conceptual, analytical and doctrinal documents and in the co-ordination of the development of the theory of military science within the CR MoD;
- It administers NATO standardization agreements (STANAG) assigned to the commander of the TC-MA. The Institute fulfills the role of an administrator of the standardization group and maintains and implements adopted STANAG related to the Institute activities;
- It ensures an active participation of the Doctrine Institute personnel in international discussions on doctrines, in seminars and conferences focused on individual branches of military science and training with the ACR components. Through its personnel, the Doctrine Institute participates in the discussions of NATO agencies, work groups and committees involved in the creation of Alliance doctrines (standards) and implementation of projects aimed at operational deployment and training of the Czech Armed Forces;
- It follows a development of the latest military science findings and it processes standardization agreements, NATO acts and other documents and proposes measures to provide their implementation into the ACR doctrinal system and in practice;
- It collects, collates and evaluates knowledge and experience of the ACR contingents and NATO allies from actual Alliance and coalition operations and utilizes them to develop military regulations, service training materials and military publications. The Doctrine Institute in co-operation with the Development Institute implements verified experience into the system of education and preparation of the ACR personnel and disseminates them to the military community.
